Re: centaurea macrocephala and centaurea gigantea

Susan
I have Centaurea macrocephala. This is it's third season in my garden and I
never thought it would bloom, but it did this year. Of course, it only
yielded two flowers, but I figured it was better than nothing. Mine finished
blooming a couple of weeks ago. They didn't last long, perhaps three weeks.
But I still like them. The foliage stays nice and green and not ratty
looking. I had hoped it would bloom a little later in the season as it is in
my "autumn garden", but that's okay.

One plant that has been somewhat of a disappointment (so far) is the
Eupatorium rugosum. It is also planted in the "autumn garden", but I think I
will be moving it to a less sunny location. I guzzles water like you wouldn't
believe. If not watered every day, the leaves droop and they also seem to sun
burn easily. So I am moving it to the border that runs along the length of
the house. I get afternoon shade.
Is anyone else growing this plant?

Janice
