Re: Hosta blooms

Hello Bob,
There are a lot of different Hostas out there under the name of
plantaginea or the old August Lily which is a passalong plant. Probably my
first hosta was the August Lily... which bloom in July for me. Just
finishing up out in the garden and the blooms are a royal purple on mine.
Have it growing in dry shade at the base of a mature cedar in a raised bed.
Just where one should not place a hosta.
For bloom, H. venusta is one of my favorites with the little inflated
bells and the royal purple veining. Hummers love it.. along with many of the
other hosta blooms in the garden.
When I first joined a hosta group I remember being promised red and blue
blooms on hosta. Have not hear anything out that one in a long time. Anyone
heard anything of bloom color for hosta lately?
