We have a Golden Rain tree, gorgeous, but attracts these little pests
like a Box Elder does. Spent a summer sweeping a dustpan full out of the
house every night, and this is what I do now to control them.
They love the brick wall of our house (next to the Golden Rain tree) on
cool days, and there are hundreds of them on there when they congregate.
So I go out with a fly swatter and get my exercise. They're too dumb to
run and you can really reduce the population that way. Alternatively a
can of Raid will do the job, just spray to hit. I do this in the early
and late fall several times, and in spring if I see any.
They've never been back in the house.
