Although it's almost impossible to find, my favorite climbind honeysuckle
vine is Lonicera prolifera. Native to the United States (Illinois, even),
it looks very similar to Lonicera sempervirens.
The leaves are perfoliate (imagine sticking a pencil through the middle of
a paper plate) and bluish-green, acting as a wonderful foil for the clear
yellow tubular flowers that give way to clusters of red fruit later in
the season. It handles dense shade (although it's not as floriferous)
and is quite hardy and vigorous.
I grow mine on a wire trellis that is attached to the trunk of an old
oak tree, and it's quite happy in that shady location. Come to think
of it, now is probably the time to take some cuttings...
