The average American spent about $94 on Father's Day gifts this
year, according to Int'l. Mass Retail Assoc. As for gifts, the standard
items still prevailed: apparel (40.8%), dinner (38.2%), sporting goods
(21.9%), home-improvement items (18.4%), electronics (16.9%) and
gardening items (11.6%). Females are the primary shoppers for
Father's Day (39.9% vs. 32.5% males). However, men tend to spend
more on dear old Dad ($103 vs. $86 for women). Consumers in the
South spent more than other regions. Respondents aged 35-44 spent the
most. http://www.imra.org
