Linda, there is nothing Brugmansia love more than hot and muggy...try
one, they're grand plants.  Feed and water it like mad and it will be
happy, grow huge and make delicious large trumpet flowers for you.

Datura meteloides has large - 6-7" diameter - white flowers, sprawls
into a rather large mound and has gray-green felted leaves that have
sort of a notch connection with the stem.  The shape at the stem is
one of the ways to identify this Datura.  There are several other
species, but I don't know which you have with spines on the
leaves...not Jimson weed?

If you've got D. meteloides, it ought to be winter hardy for you.  It
is in Arlington, VA, but not for me about, oh, maybe 15 miles
northwest of there.
