There are five daphnes in all. Three are Daphne x burkwoodii 'Carol
Mackie', one is D. x burkwoodii 'Somerset', and two are D. cneorum.
Daphne x burkwoodii is a cross between D. cneorum and D. caucasica.
'Marginata' should always show variegation, so you are entitled to
an exchange or refund. Variegated plants occasionally revert to
nonvariegated form, or perhaps it dropped seed that germinated and
produced a different offspring.
