Here in East Central Illinois mine are just starting to go dormant as well.

I used to have a huge bed full of them at the base of my oak tree, but
the guy that we hired to mow the lawn mowed them all down right after
they finished blooming.  He proudly announced to me that he had gotten
rid of "all of those weeds out back", and I haven't seen any bluebells
in that part of the garden since.  :(  

Needless to say, I now mow my own lawn (not that there's much left 
anymore -- however, there seem to be more and more flowerbeds!)
