Susan,
What about Aconitums -napellus blooming now and arendsii or carmichaelii
blooming October (5-7')? Heleniums 'Feuersiegal' bright gold with licks of
flaming red August-October (mine are about 6' tall)? Tall Alliums
Globemaster or others? Phygelius Moonraker, African Queen or Winchester
Fanfare (5-6')? Rudbeckia laciniata (6')? Phlox paniculata (I have one
that is 5') all colors? Agastache Apricot Sunrise or hot pink Tutti Frutti
(4-5')? Acidanthera creamy white with a purple blotch(4-5')? Crocosmia
Lucifer fire engine red (4-5')? Filipendula rubra Venusta cotton candy
pink(5')? And my favorite robins egg blue Salvia uliginosa (6-7'). There
have been some excellent suggestions and there are probably more you could
use.

I know, every year we see someone complaining about hollyhocks and malva and
the rust that accompanies them. My attitude in the past has been -- what's
a little rust? And I've lived with it.
I guess I've had my fill. Besides delphinium, what tall, spikey plants
could I replace these plants with? All colors welcome, but would
particularly like something blue/purple, and they need to be sun lovers.
Thanks for your input!
