The Virginia blue bells do grow in the low land next to creeks and
rivers that overflow in the spring in a native situation. They really
do like lots of moisture in the spring when they are doing their thing

Thanks for the info. I was beginning to think that there might have been too
much water. During the summer I overplant the area with shade annuals and
they get plenty of water.
Only during the fall does the ground really get dry if there is lack of
rain. This might explain their demise.
