Just when you thought it was safe to go into the bathroom.....
Speaking of putting our enemies to good use, I saw a short piece on
one of the cable stations (might have been HGTV), about using our old
friend Creeping Charlie (aka Glechoma hederacea) to make a tea (steep
1 oz fresh plant material in 1 cup boiling water - sugar to taste) or
use as boiled greens. I guess it was used at one time as an additive
to beer (in place of the hops, so they said).
I have tried several times to use some of these "alternative
vegetables" on the dinner table (the reviews weren't good) , but
don't expect to see them on Martha Stewart anytime soon. Perhaps if
Euell Gibbons were still with us...
