Hello Marge,
    I have been moving the Hakone grasses up to the next size just as they
are coming into active growth in the spring. Thought that would be the best
time. Same timing when I mess with any other grass. I discussed this with a
landscaper who uses Hakone grasses quite a bit and she tells me they have
weak root systems compared to other grasses.
    Perhaps I have simply not been holding my mouth in the proper position
when transplanting.
