Probably make them hyper and eat even more. :)
My concern would be the effect on frogs and/or toads in the yard. If
I remember correctly, amphibians are severely affected by caffeine as
well.
In Hawai'i the coqui (a small frog that used to only be found on Puerto
Rico and makes a lot of noise at night) problem was originally going to
be controlled by caffeine sprays into foliage. The caffeine increases
their heart rates by affecting a neurotransmitter in their brains,
eventually causing death.
Regular strength coffee may be a non-issue -- I have no idea what
concentrations of caffeine are needed.
But what I really want to know is... What's left-over coffee? Never
seems to be a problem around here. :)
