Many thanks for the tutorial on the mass production of hosta. 
 
Is this process of lining them out, then mincing them up and  replanting the 
pieces referred to as 'tissue culture'? It would  seem that hosta are easy to 
grow. And, if it's so easy to propagate hosta, I'm  surprised that we don't 
have enough growers in the States to supply the demand  here. And why would it 
be cheaper to produce and ship them  from Europe?
 
I'm still horrified at the prospect of perhaps having to remove  nearly 200 
hosta. Does this mean that one should now always  disinfect pruners between 
plants when removing spent scapes? Is the recommended  disinfectant still a 1:10 
chlorox to water solution?
 
Yikers...what a downer.
