Joanie, thanks for the links; one was really a help to me because I have a Frances Williams I was worried about -- the link informs me it's too little water, too much sun which sounds right and is a big relief after this virus thread!
I'm really writing to say I'm so so sorry about your beautiful hosta bed. What a tragedy! If Vinca minor is any help in the interim I will send you some.

Thanks, Karen...and here's a link from one of your sites that helps i.d. Hosta problems, in case anyone's interested: _http://www.extension.umn.edu/yardandgarden/ygbriefs/p153hostadisease.htm_ (http://www.extension.umn.edu/yardandgarden/ygbriefs/p153hostadisease.htm) I'm beginning to wonder what I can use as a ground cover for shade that has beautiful foliage and some height. Any ideas? I had about 90 Hosta just in the one infected bed, which now have many more that are showing that stripey/puckery/mottled coloration. A sad, sad day.
