Jacobs ladder

Is Jacob's Ladder a shade plant, or full sun?  I swear in the Park Seed
Catalog it must have said it was useful for part shade, because I ordered
seeds, as I am trying to start a shade garden.  Unfortunately, somehow the
catalog got lost, so I can't tell what Park Seed said about Jacob's Ladder.
 However, when I was out buying yet some more perennials (it is such a
compulsion!!), I noticed Jacob's Ladder, and it said it needed full sun.
Anyway, I am confused, and curious how much shade JL can tolerate.  I am in
Zone 4b/5A, Central New York.
