Re: Gardenia and Sweet Shrub

Cherryl,

One thing to remember is that gardenias like acid soil. I don't know about
the Sweet Shrub. We take coffee grounds, used tea bags, old tea, etc and put
them on the gardenias and this seems to take care of the problem of
yellowing. Our gardenia is not in full sun all day though. Ours only gets
morning sun and it has been blooming like crazy for a couple of weeks. The
scent is almost overpowering when you walk out the front door.

I can sympathize with the clay soil--I'm in Baton Rouge and 3/4 our gardens
had to be converted to raised bed. Between the clay soil and the high water
table everything was drowning.
