Harry Dewey says
The STANDARD book on rock gardening is generally considered to
be Lincoln
Foster's thirty-year old classic, *Rock Gardens*, still in print and
available from the NARGS Bookstore at a members' price of $18.
How right he is! This is a GREAT book. Thank you Lincoln Foster (still
living in the minds and hearts and gardens of many)! This book led to
much backbreaking work, fulfilling challenges, and terrific pleasures on
the part of me and my husband in over 30 years of gardening.
There are some nice alphabetical-by-plant type color illustrated books
that are good too: Hay and Synge (sorry, I don't have the exact
reference at hand), a book by Bloom, one by Richard Bird. There is a
good list available through the North American Rock Garden Society.
Enjoy!
