I have noticed this in my garden too! The main factor here seems to be
height - I go about a mile, and several hundred metres down, from my garden
off the hill
into the village at the bottom and notice we are always at least a week
behind. I guess it is not only the altitude but the cold winds we get up
here!
The good side of the microclimate up here is that our flowers often go on
longer than the ones down in the village
On another subject I notice someone mentioning the rose 'New Dawn' as
without scent. It is also one of my favourites in my garden and I find it
has the most _amazing_ scent! How strange - anyone else grow this one? It
really is one of the best old fashioned looking roses that goes on and on
flowering.
