Thanks to all who respoonded to my request for a companion for my leggy, pink
floribunda. Suggestions from list members were:
- Veronica incana with nearby blue scabiosa
- Perovskia (Russian Sage)
- Artemisia "Powis Castle" and Polemonium "Hopleys" ("Jacob's ladder") or
Geranium pratense "Striatum" or Hesperis matronalis
- Bronze fennel
- Centaura or blue flowered sage
I think I'll go with the Artemisia and Veronica, with maybe some geraniums in
front. (It'll be a year or two before any of these items is very interesting).
I think the Perovskia and Jacob's ladder will be a bit TOO tall, although I
would like to grow some sages. I already have a small clump of centaura
growing next to the rose. The bronze fennel sounds interesting. I can't find
it in any of my books so I don't know what it looks like. The main problem is
NOT ENOUGH ROOM to grow everything I want! (Anyone else have this problem?!)
Happy gardening. (I'm off to plant a couple of hanging baskets now!)
