Since morning glory flowers only last one day, I am assuming that the color
change is due to the flowers fading before they die off in the afternoon.
I've noticed the same effect on my annual vine, and those that have changed
colors did not last to see the next day.  Perhaps it is the same thing for
your perennial one.
