One way to use daylilies is to plant them where they can hide the dying
foliage of earlier plants, most commonly, daffodils. I've also interplanted
tall annuals like zinnias with them.

I have single clumps of various daylilies in my borders. They grow very
large and can just about take over.  I rather like the smaller-growing
kinds better for this use.
