Re: Favorite Garden Tools

If I could only have one, it would have to be the long handled, small shovel I
have. I got one at Sears several years ago and found it works for just about
everyihing in a pinch. I had my arm in a full cast a few years ago and was in
tears because I couldn't work in the garden or plant my flowers.

I used the small shovel as a trowel, and my small grandson would put the small
plants in the holes. We had a marvelous time. Then I figured I could use the
cast as leverage, the doctor would have been a little upset with me as I dug
the amendments into the soil with the assistance of the cast.

I got the pruners Sam's had on special this spring. It is Felcro and the grip
rotates as you prune. Really love it because it saves wear and tear on my
wrist.

Last year I found the 'soil scoop" at a garden center and told myself if it
was under $15, I would get it. It was $14.95. The small teeth on the edges
are wonderful. You can just about get rid of your trowels if you have one of
these.

For others who tend to leave their tools outside or strung all over the yard,
look at The Tool Caddy. I've seen it advertized in mags for several years and
thought it was much too expensive. I finally asked for one for Christmas and
I just love it. It's on wheels, has a handle to pull it with you and loads of
spots for each piece of equipment you have. Places for shovels to stand
upright, etc., and several slots for pruners, trowels, hand held tools. I
haven't quite figured out where to put the long handled lopers, but I will.

That's another newer thing I have that I really like. Felcro, loper with a
gear type action to trim larger branches (up to two inches, I think) with no
trouble. I got those at Sam's also and think the price was really good.
Don't you just love Sam's.

A couple of weeks ago I helped my husband out with the birthday present he
hadn't gotten for me yet. Didn't intend to get a Mantis, but that's what I
ended up with. My ten year old grandson is better at starting it than I am,
but I shall get the hang of it one of these days, weather permitting.

Was in the 90's on Tuesday, Thursday I don't think it hit 60. Would have been
wonderful for working in the yard, but we finally had rain and it was too wet.

Sorry I started rambling. I just love garden tools and stuff.
