I just read something helpful this morning to help discern poison ivy
from seedling box elders when weeding in the garden, the leaves are so
similar. I am REALLY allergic to poison ivy, and I have lots of box
elders in my yard, so I always get this chill down my spine when I see
one of these plants growing in my perennial border and hem and haw
whether to get out the RoundUp or just yank it. Evidently, the leaves on
a box elder oppose one another on the stem at the same level, while
those of poison ivy alternate down the stem. I wish I had pictures to
illustrate...
