I have a Yardman shreaded, which works well enough to satisfy me for a $1000
less than one I'd like better, but it was a BEAR to start. I called
Yardman, and they transfered me to the engine development engineer at
Techumsi (well, close enough for you to recognize). He told me that that
and many other engines are now -very- sensitive to how old the gasoline is.
Either buy gas within the _week_, or add a stabilizer to it as soon as you
get it home (or both). He was dead on! I have followed his advice, and it
has made a world of difference. Yesterday I fired up the shreaded for the
first time this year, having used the stabilizer last fall, and then ran it
for a while to get the treated gas into the carburetor. One pull! Used to
be 400 pulls, replace the plug, and 50 more.
