Pottsey,

You may get some flowers from your purple coneflowers, baby sun coreopsis, and
black eyed susans later this year, however don't expect to see flowers from
your red hot pokers for a few years. These plants really do take a certain
amount of time to develope into flowering sized clumps. Also, make sure that
you have planted your red hot poker where you "really" want it to stay. Full
sun, well drained soil and about 3 feet of room. These plants develope a
major tap root and really don't like to be moved once established. Plus, if
you do move them to a more preferred sight once you see how large they are
going to get, you will have trouble getting rid of the suckers that will
resprout from the side roots that you will probably cut off when trying to pry
it out of the ground. So, take another look at where you have planted your
red hot poker and if need be, move it before it settles in.
