I have never seen G. renardii 'Tschelda', but it should have the same
foliage of the species and a colour intermediate between the cultivars
'Whiteknights' and 'Zetterlund', according to some notes I read on the
Geraniaceae Group newsletter.
I am growing G. renardii in a large, thick pot with a good drainage and, some
years ago, I placed a big calcareous stone at the base of the plant, on its
South side, with good results.
In fact G. renardii needs a sunny position but suffers from the roots
heating during our hot Summer ( I am in Italy, in zone 8), and the stone
keeps the soil cool nicely.
I think that G. renardii and G. sylvaticum require very different
fertilising. G. sylvaticum grows wild in rich pastures on our Alps, and it
likes a good amount of manure, on the contrary G. renardii keeps better its
lovely compact habit and grey-green foliage in rather poor soil.
All the best,
Marisa Amadio
P.S. There is a picture of my G. renardii on the Geraniaceae Group page at
