I just joined the list today, and have never tried getting information
this way.
It's been interesting reading all the postings so far, and I've saved a
few for
future reference. I'm a relatively new gardener with only a large patio
to
play with, but I'm having fun.

Hi Pottsey,
You and I are two of the newest gardeners on the list (I think), so I
feel a
connection to you. I just saved the heads after they had died and were
somewhat dry. You can start doing that now, but I waited until
September.
In fact, I have Marigolds coming up all over because I would remove the
heads and just drop them on the ground. I won't do that again. As far
as
storage, I just put them in a ziploc bag and put them in the pantry - no
special storage. This spring I just opened up the head, and there were
all
these long black/white seeds. This is what I planted. I had so many of
them
I gave them to whoever would take them and then I threw the rest out.
Now I
realize that was a mistake. I should have kept them and posted them on
one
of the share lists. Anyway, I planted a few seeds about 3 weeks ago,
and
the plants are already 3-4" high. They took a long time to bloom last
year,
but once they did they went on and on and on. I don't know a lot about
seeds, but I would like to learn. I just signed onto the seed list to
see
if I can learn some more. Good luck and keep posting questions. You
and
Jeanne inspire me to do the same.
