I planted my Flax next to Lambs ears (Stachys byzantina). The lambs ears
eventually grew around them and *saved* the Flax from the slugs. The
slugs don't eat my lambs ears at all (perhaps all that *fur*????). I
added a hybrid Speedwell (Veronica *Blue Charm*) to the mix, and the
blues and grays and the purplish hue of the speedwell make for a
beautiful cluster, all blooming now.
In other areas, where the flax is by itself, the slugs decimate it.
The only other *True Blue* I can think of is the Virginia Bluebell
(Mertensia Virginica). It's just a shame they die off so early. I'd
love to play them off my sundrops (Oenothera fruiticosa).
