Boy, ain't that the truth! Catalogs always refer to something as being blue,
when in fact it is really some shade of purple. Offen their color photos have
been touched up to make the flowers look more blue. The only true blue that I
have ever been able to grow are the Delphinimums, Bearded Iris, Japanese Iris,
Blue Moon Morning Glories and a new one for me this year, Blue Nolana, a
beautiful Gentiana and I'm sure that I'm forgetting someone. I am sure that
there are others that I haven't even begun to try. Would be nice to see
someone come up with a list of true blue flowers.
One year my goal was a total blue bouquet. The closest that I was able to
come was a combination of blues and purples. But what a beautiful bouquet it
was. I am always on the lookout for true blue flowers, and by the way I
cannot grow the meconopsis blue poppies. I have tried a number of times, even
going so far as to purchase plants. We just don't have the right climate for
it I guess. Donna Adams in Detroit, Michigan zone 6
