For an incredible blue, how about lithodora or analgallis? Both have
intense, dark blue flowers. Guess you could call it a gentian blue.
Lithodora can be finicky and not reliably hardy here in zone 6. Analgallis
is a new one for me this year. Says it is a creeper and I would welcome
this creep!
Blue flax has been one of those flowers that I long for, but haven't had
much luck with. Can't get it to over winter, but sure wish I could.
