It is a "Naturalized" plant... introduced, but capable of fitting into the
environment and growing as if it belonged there. We have (after working at it
for several years) a good deal of Verbascum thapsus. It is one of the plants
that I use to stop erosion and it is a beautiful accent plant as well. Do not
count on goats not eating it though...I asked Robin (husband, who had goats
when he was young) what goats will not eat and he thought for a moment and
said... "a stone wall."
I also have Verbascum phonecium (sp?) in a moist area by the back step. It has
purple flowers and I may put some in by the pond (newly constructed) if I get
seeds this year or next.
Blessings of the Midsummer Season!
