I saw the Canna that you mentioned... orange sherbet colored flowers and
rainbow leaves! I wanted to get it too! It would be beautiful beside the pond.
I did not because I KNOW that it has to be dug up in fall and our work load
(there is lots to do in fall) will not leave time for that and then where
would I store it? My propagation room is full of supplies and stuff and flats
of seedlings in late winter/spring. No room/no time! If I still lived in
Albuquerque (zone 6 & 7) I would leave it in the ground and put a lot of mulch
on it. Go for it if you are willing to dig it up in fall! I am moving my
overcrowded Rhubarb and strawberries (that lack humidity in the current
location) to a place beside the pond and use those flowers, leaves and stems
for accent. I can make pie too!
