Ann,
Just yesterday, I put in a dark leafed dahlia, ditto with a fushia,
nicotiana (pinkish), some coleus, some of the new pastel salmon impatiens.
Also have some salvia farinacea 'Victoria' and cleome, cosmos, etc. SOOOO
much is getting ready to bloom or already has bloomed so early that I agree
with you that annuals will have to help anchor the garden this year.
I always think about foliage color and plant texture when I am planting so
that things will still look good even if there is not much in bloom.
