Septic System planting

We have a septic tank cover that is at ground level and is cement. I have
thought about putting a bird bath on it but am unable to find one that
would cover the tank fully since it is approximately 2 feet in diameter.
So I thought that I could get a bird bath and then plant some unintrusive
plants around the cover to cover the base, so that later when we have to
empty the tank we would be able to easily lift the cover. Could someone
offer some suggestions of what type of plants I could use that would not
seep into the septic system?

I originally thought hostas would be okay but the nursery person said that
their root system can be quite large.

TIA!
