How 'bout something like an ajuga reptans (bugleweed)? They seem shallow
rooted and spread laterally. I found a little beauty this year called
*ajuga reptans burgundy glow* that has almost mauve colored foliage which
really offsets those wonderful blue flowers in the spring. The foliage
looks great without the flowers too!
Hey - there's another blue flower - did anyone mention that??
