It's easy to see when the seeds are ripe --just leave the heads until you
can shake black seeds out--you will probably get plenty from a few flower
heads, so you don't have to leave them all if you want it to look neat.
I've had good luck with planting seeds from many perennials this
way--columbine, rudbeckia, coneflowers, foxgloves--just keep checking and
pretty soon --seeds--just like the ones that come in packages.
