While we are on the subject of colored photos, The Random House Book of
Perennials, Volumes 1 (early blooming) & 2 (late blooming), have lots and
lots and lots of colored pictures. They do a series of Random House Books,
i.e. Roses, Bulbs, Herbs, Trees, Shrubs and vegetables.
Books have been mentioned again and again, but I have an old standby that I
find quite useful and that is a very old edition of Taylor's Encyclopedia of
Gardening. It's still a book that I use as a starting point when I'm
researching something.
