The first year we were here in Michigan, I purchased a nice
Verbena 'homestead' plant which the nursery insisted was a
perennial in this area. All the reading I did on it
indicated it would be an annual, and I was right. But for
$5.00, it was one of the prettiest annuals in my garden that
first summer, spreading to about 4 feet in diameter and it
bloomed constantly all summer. For that reason alone, it
was well worth the $5.00.
