Chris, it's next to impossible for a plant to have dry feet in
winter here and if they're supposed to be dry I'm going to
forget mulching and just take cuttings.
I have my 'Homestead' with yellow flowering Sedum (may be Sedum acre,
came to me as a gift) and Setcreasa purpurea 'Purple Heart' which
has just been reclassified as a Tradescantia and is on the cover of
"Horticulture" this month. Unfortunately, it looks blue in their
photo and it's a beautiful purple. It's a tender perennial, hardy in
Zones 8 and south and some plants winter over here. It's a great
plant.
