Betty-
I don't know how long the fence is, but have you walked it?
/ There are places where the fence doesn't come quite to the ground. And
there is a gap beneath the gates and the ground and between the gates and
their posts so there are plenty of places where an animal as small as a
rabbit could get in.
Some animals are
very adept at tunneling under a fence and I've heard advice that fence
needs to
be buried under the ground a bit to prevent this. (Of course, this is
impossible
for you - I can just see you asking your employer to sink the fence! :-)
/ Yes, somehow I don't think that would go over well though I have
considered asking them to put up a chicken wire fence around the garden.
Haven't gotten up my nerve yet, and, besides, I want to try every other
option first because the garden won't look half so pretty if it's fenced
in.
