Lauren:
I read your posting lamenting the inability of Florida growers to grow
daffodils.
I'm not certain what part of Florida you live and garden in but, as
unlikely as it may seem, the largest local daffodil society in the United
States is in Florida. This is due entirely to an energetic man named
John Van Beck who lives in Tallahassee. There are a number of varieties
that do well in your heat, according to John. At one time in Florida (in
the 20's?) daffodils were commercially grown in great quantities for the
cut flower trade.
John's e-mail address is: 0610343664@classic.msn.com
I'm certain he would be delighted to share his list of good cultivars
with you and assorted tidbits of helpful information. Maybe even turn
you into a member of the Flordia Daffodil Society!
