Re: irish eyes rudbeckias

Julie -

Out of the three different Rudbeckias that I have tried....this one is my
favorite. Sadly, the first time I had these they did not live to the next
year nor did they self sow. In the defense of the plant....I had a new bed
and this was one of the 1st 10 plants placed....since then (3 years) I've
reshaped the bed twice and moved almost every plant in the bed twice-----now
that my bed is well established (and there is really no more room to make it
bigger) I think it will have a better chance of survival or at least
selfsowing. I usually collect a few seeds for manual sowing just in
case....but I'm not sure if the seeds will be true to "Irish Eyes"...does
anyone?

I didn't know you could take cuttings of Rudbeckias.......when is the best
time? I know that they can be divided but if I can take cuttings that would
ensure the plant being a true "Irish Eyes" and I wouldn't have to dig up my
mother plant.
