Last year I picked up one of the deep, dark red ones and was told that
it was a form of C. rosea (which may or may not be a form of 
C. verticillata - depending on which book I'm looking at at the moment);
mine certainly had the appearance of the Threadleaf Coreopsis except
for the blossom color.
