Heather,
Another thing is to pay attention to where your other list members order
from. You'll see the same companies mentioned over and over with the same
glowing recommendations. I've learned about several places from this list
and I haven't regretted an order I've placed. With the exception of Forest
Farm, I think most places will send you about a quart-sized plant or a 3-4"
pot (I've gotten gallons from Forest Farm, but you really pay for that
shipping!). The biggest reason for this is the cost of shipping a large
plant; otherwise you should get a hardy little plant just waiting to be
planted.
Generally speaking, go local for your common perennials. Spend the extra
cash on something unusual to get via mail order. Make sure the company
has a 800 customer service line. Your better companies try hard to make it
easy for their customers to reach them.
