Well, Heather, I'd have done the same or at least called and requested my
money back *if* I had ordered same from a reputable nursery and paid a
decent price for them.
If you order from one of the mass market nurseries, yo' takes yo'
chances....sometimes you will get a viable plant with a correct name, and
sometimes you won't.
Personally, I only order through nurseries that I know to be of good
reputation, whose owners are plantspeople who grow their own - or most of
their own - and who make every effort to correctly ID their plants and send
healthy plants ready to grow in my garden with proper care.
The mass market mail order suppliers, like the infamous Michigan Bulb Co.,
make offers that sound too good to be true...and they aren't....send dried
up bits or second rate plants with fanciful names - some of which will
grow, but the majority of which will not. They will refund to keep you
coming back, but it just ain't worth it in the long run.
Good nurseries make it clear what size plants they are sending and few
offer refunds although they will always try to work out problems that can
arise since dealing with living material is always a chancy affair.
I think you did the right thing and only hope you get your money back:-)
