Re: Lisianthus

I believe Lisianthus and Eustoma (Prairie Gentian) are the same. They are annuals except in warm climates and VERY difficult to germinate/grow. I started them from seed...OK....I got one to grow from a huge packet of dust like seeds. I started it in January and it is now 1" tall. Since she received them in
seedling form she should be OK. They flower during the summer and have a very long vase life. They prefer a sheltered sunny spot with well drained soil and a slightly lower ph (reading this off my seed packet). Cut the flowers as they barely begin to open. Good luck with these - I am truly envious.

Blessings

She needs information and I haven't been able to find any for her in my usual sources. Any ideas out there on where it should be planted, how to care for, or experiences with this in a zone 5 garden?
