I wanted to extend a hearty "thank you" to the person on this list that
suggested spray painting dried allium. I let my tall-growing allium (I
forget the variety, but each was about 3-4 feet tall) dry to a beige color
in the garden and then clipped them at the base. I let the stems
thoroughly dry in a protected spot standing up in a vase. I then spray
painted each stem a color to match my garden party's theme. These went
into two tall vases surrounded by stems of mint that acted as a lush
filler. These were the anchor centerpieces on the buffet table.
Everyone remarked on the unusual arrangement and I heard my mom explaining
more than once how it was done. One of her friends wanted me to save some
for her next spring.
So again, whoever you are, thanks VERY much! Great idea!
