Barb that sounds strange for daylilies. I transplanted some of mine when they were in bloom, with buds on them also and they never missed a beat, just kept on blooming. I kept them watered good. I also did some stella-de-oro the same way and they kept blooming, of course they didn't do as well as the would have done, but they are alive and well and some are still blooming.
