This morning I was deadheading my Campanula Persicifolia and
great showers of what I imagine was rust spores were falling
onto the ground and surrounding plants. (It's red, looks
like rust in scales on the stems of the plant.) I hate
having to use chemicals in the garden. Does anybody have
any idea what the effect would be on the plants if I just
left it? If it should be treated, do you think I should
treat it as the hollyhock that we were discussing a couple
of weeks ago? Or should I get rid of the plants? They are
quite tightly packed in the border and I think somebody said
when discussing hollyhocks to let air circulate around them.
Well, that's going to be impossible here, because the whole
point of the border is to keep things tightly packed.
